VISIT RWANDA
Contributourism in Rwanda
“Contributourism” combines the best of the tourist experience with the impact of volunteerism. Our two to three week adventures into the heart of Africa expose you to the history and culture of Rwanda, bring you up close and personal with the Rwandan people, and allow you to experience the amazing wildlife the area is known for. Along the way, we provide you with the opportunity to give back and make a measurable impact at a local school site, helping to change the academic futures of young Rwandan students.
Learn the history of Rwanda
The first part of our tour is an immersion into Rwandan history. Known to the world as the sight of a genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, it’s Rwanda’s commitment to never going back to that dark place that really defines this forward-looking people. Still, any understanding of Rwanda today must begin with an unflinching look at where they have been. Our visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and Museum, as well as Nyamata Church, the site of one of the largest massacres of the 1994 genocide, help to provide a framework by which to understand this horrific turning point in Rwandan history, and the incredible work the Rwandan people have done in rebuilding a peaceful, unified, and decidedly modern society.

Meet the people of Rwanda
Visit reconciliation villages where perpetrators of 1994’s violence and survivors live – side by side – in conscious community with the intent of finding forgiveness. Hear their amazing stories of survival and reconciliation. Tour the schools where their children are educated; a new generation of Rwandans raised together without regard to former tribal affiliations. Immerse yourself in native Rwandan culture at a village in Musanze. Volunteer at a school site: former tour participants have made repairs to classrooms, created and stocked a 1,000 book library, and taught students internet skills.
Experience the beauty of Rwanda
From the bustling modern metropolis of the capital city, Kigali, to the rural farm villages which dot the countryside, our tour brings you up close and personal with the extraordinary people and unique culture which makes this country so beautiful. Our tour transverses most of this small country, allowing you to see everything Rwanda has to offer.
Visit Akagera National Park on the Rwanda/Tanzania border for a multiple-day safari. Track and photograph the “Big 5” (Rhinos, Leopards, Lions, Elephants, and Buffalo) in their natural habitat along the shores of Lake Ihema. Venture with us above the clouds in Rwanda’s Virunga Mountains for an up-close encounter with native golden monkeys or mountain gorillas. Choose a day trip to the stunning Lake Kivu.
